Short answer: Your first Botox visit takes about 10–15 minutes: a few nearly painless injections into the muscles behind your lines. You'll feel tiny pinches, see small bumps that fade in an hour, and notice results in 3–5 days (full effect at two weeks). Done conservatively, you'll look rested, not frozen.
Nearly everyone's first Botox question is some version of 'will I still look like me?' The honest answer: a good injector dosing conservatively makes you look like a well-rested version of yourself, not a waxwork. The frozen look you're afraid of comes from too much product placed by someone chasing a dramatic result, which is exactly why your choice of injector matters more than anything else about the appointment.
Does Botox hurt?
Not much. The needle is very fine, and most people describe each injection as a quick pinch or a small bug bite. A typical upper-face treatment is only a handful of injections and is over in a couple of minutes. Many injectors offer ice or a topical numbing cream if you're needle-anxious, though most first-timers find they didn't need it.
How many units will I need?
That's set by your muscle strength and how many areas you treat, not a flat price. A cautious first treatment of the forehead, frown lines, and crow's feet commonly uses somewhere in the range of 20–50 units total. A good injector often suggests starting on the lower end for a first-timer; you can always add a touch more at your two-week check-in, but you can't take it back out.
What happens after

Results appear gradually over 3–5 days and reach full effect around 14 days. The effect softens over 3–4 months as muscle movement returns, which is when most people book their next visit.
