Questions to Ask Your Provider

Short answer: Before any treatment, ask: What's your license and who supervises you? How often do you do this exact treatment? What product and how much? What are the real risks and how do you handle a complication? What's the all-in price? And what does recovery actually look like? Good providers welcome every one of these.

The best protection in aesthetics is an informed patient asking good questions, and the best providers love answering them. Screenshot this list or bring it with you. How a provider responds tells you as much as the answers themselves: openness is a green light, defensiveness is a red one.

About credentials

Start with who's treating you and under what authority. These questions establish that you're in medically supervised hands, not a salon chair.

  • What is your professional license (MD/DO, PA, NP, RN)?
  • Who is the supervising physician or medical director?
  • How often do you perform this specific treatment?
  • Can I see your own before-and-after photos for it?

About the treatment and risks

Next, get specific about what's going into your body and what could go wrong. A provider who answers these plainly is showing you their competence.

  • Exactly what product/device are you using, and how much?
  • Is it FDA-approved or FDA-cleared for this use?
  • What are the common side effects and the rare serious risks?
  • If there's a complication, what's your protocol, and do you keep reversal agents (like hyaluronidase) on hand?
  • Am I a good candidate, or is there a better option for my goal?

About cost and recovery

Finally, nail down the money and the aftermath so there are no surprises. Vague answers here often mean hidden costs or oversold results.

  • What's the all-in price, and is it per unit, per area, per syringe, or per session?
  • How many sessions or units will I realistically need?
  • What does downtime actually look like, and what's the aftercare?
  • When will I see results, and how long will they last?

Questions to Ask Your Provider: FAQ

'What is your license, and who is your supervising physician or medical director?' It establishes that a medical professional is responsible for your care, the foundation everything else rests on.

Absolutely. Ask what the real risks are and exactly how they handle a complication, including whether they keep reversal agents like hyaluronidase on hand for filler. Openness here is a strong trust signal.

Ask whether the quote is per unit, per area, per syringe, or per session, and how many you'll realistically need. A per-unit teaser can hide a much larger total.

Not at all, good providers welcome them. If a provider seems annoyed or evasive when you ask about credentials, risks, or price, treat that as a red flag.
